Moules Frites
I’ve posted about Townsend’s before, but they’ve made changes to the menu that need to be discussed.
A couple of months ago, we went for dinner and noticed they changed the menu. There are significant changes to the entrees and the appetizers, but they also added a selection of moules frites. There are four different types of mussels, and four different types of fries. Since that first time, we’ve been back two other times. We’ve tried three out of the four mussel recipes, and two of the four fry recipes. We’ve yet to be disappointed.
Let me stop here to talk about the fries. They are, by far, the best french fries I have ever had. That is saying alot, because I have eaten a LOT of fries. They are crispy, with a soft middle, and seasoned just perfectly. Oh, and they always come out piping hot. They are served in a cool metal cup container with wax paper. I love these fries. I will actually go to Townsends just for the fries.
Sadly, Townsends website is no longer available, and I can’t remember the different types of broths that are available for the mussels. They are regionally named, and use a beer that is known to that region. Last night, we had a broth made with pilsner, grape tomatoes, pancetta, onions, and garlic. The mussels themselves are beautiful – really clean and fresh tasting.
The fries are also regionally named. We tried the cajun fries once, but I love the traditional. They come with this garlic aioli mayonnaise that I can’t get enough of.
Last night we ordered a salad, another appetizer and the moules frites. It was more than enough, and a nice Friday meal.
For $14.00 this is a great bargain as well. If you are ever in the area, I strongly suggest you try these. You will not be disappointed.

Is this the place near you?
Hey, do you want to go out one night when you are here and cook in one night? You and Steven can tag team in the kitchen and Andreas and I will…supervise. Or something.
